Ingredients

  • Vegetable Oil
  • Chicken Thigh
  • Salt/Pepper
  • MSG (optional)
  • Soy Sauce
  • Honey
  • Ketchup
  • Cilantro
  • Garlic
  • Cornstarch/Water

The Process

1. Saute

Start by turning on Sauté Medium/Normal and adding the vegetable oil. While that’s heating up season your chicken thighs with salt, pepper, and MSG (optional). Add the chicken to the pot and brown both sides for a few minutes.

2. Make Sauce

While the chicken is browning, mix together the soy sauce, honey, ketchup, cilantro, and garlic. When you’re done browning the chicken, add the sauce and use it to scrape off any chicken that’s stuck to the pot (deglazing).

3. Pressure Cook and Release

Pressure cook for 5 minutes and natural-release the pressure for 5 minutes before quick-releasing.

4. Saute and Thicken

Remove the lid and set the chicken aside. Press cancel and turn on sauté again. Make a cornstarch slurry with cornstarch and water and pour it into the liquid when it starts to bubble. Pour the sauce over your chicken thighs.

5. Enjoy!

FAQ

I don’t like cilantro, what can I use instead?

If you don’t like cilantro switch it out for green onion. It can be used just like cilantro as part of the sauce AND for garnishing after cooking!

What goes well with Instant Pot Honey Garlic Chicken?

I eat this with plain jasmine rice, but you can also do fried rice, chow mein, or even lettuce wraps!

How can I make this dish spicier?

Try adding crushed red pepper or sriracha!

What size Instant Pot did you use to make this recipe?

I used a 6-quart Duo Plus Instant Pot.
